Staff Spotlight: Madeleine O'Kelly & Sherry Gaines

MADELEINE O' KELLY

Madeleine O'Kelly joined the Celtic staff family a little over two years ago initially as a hostess and food runner, but her enthusiasm for taking care of our guests quickly advanced her into server and bartender roles. Because of Madeleine's passion for soccer, specifically Manchester United, she was a perfect fit to host the early morning Premier league matches at the pub.

Madeleine graduated with her Bachelors of Science at University of Chattanooga in 2014 and is currently pursuing her second Bachelors degree in Nursing at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in the accelerated program. During her down time, you will most likely find Madeleine swimming or enjoying a Heineken at a local watering hole on her day off.

We chose to spotlight Madeleine this month because of her determination, consistency, and positive spirit. Although she has traveled to France, Belgium, Holland, Ireland, and Germany, Madeleine credits her hard-working and colorful personality to her personal access to the Irish culture,

"In being raised by my father, [from Dublin] and experiencing Irish culture first hand, I've learned to work hard for what I want because your efforts are only what you make them. I also recognize a quick wit can make the journey easier and more enjoyable!"

SHERRY GAINES

Sherry Gaines joined our pub family in Cooper-Young a little under a year ago, but she is a seasoned Midtown resident of 11 years. She is one of our rockstar servers, consistently giving guests a new definition of excellent customer service. With a combination of humor, kindness, attention to detail and 17 years of people-pleasing experience, Sherry is a true asset to Memphis food & dining culture.

Sherry earned her Bachelors in English from University of Memphis in 2008 and is currently applying for the Physical Therapy Assistant Program at Southwest Community College. When not at the pub working, you can most likely find Sherry spending time with her Tails of Hope rescue animals (one dog, Buttercup, and one feline, Sky), whipping up meals from scratch in her kitchen, or enjoying a pint at Memphis Made Brewery.

Although Sherry has acquired experience from fine dining at Acre to the pastry chef at EP's Delta Kitchen downtown on Beale St., we sure are happy she chose us to call home. Next time you stop by the pub, make sure to buy this dynamic lady a shot of her favorite whiskey [Tullamore Dew] and thank her for her commitment to clever and friendly customer service.
